TV DRAMA

'Dystopia'
Prods. Simon Phillips,
           Michael Copon

Dirs. Paul Tanter, Simon Phillips

A U.S. Science Fiction Series told mostly
with hand-held material that gives a sense of
immediacy needing great care to avoid shadows
and maintain focus - all edited at a furious pace
to complete each episode from scratch in a week.

'Dates'
- Balloon Pics.
Prods. Bryan Elsley/Bradley Adams
Dirs. Sarah Walker/Philippa Langdale

Cast inc. - Will Mellor, Montanna Thompson,
Greg McHugh, Gemma Chan

I learnt a great deal about comic timing from producer Bryan Elsley on this character-driven piece...

'The Mill'
- Darlow Smithson Prods.
Prod. Johnathan Young
Dir. Bill Anderson.

Cast inc. - Matthew McNulty, Kerrie Hayes, Andrew Lee Potts

Keeping all the characters' story arcs clear and compelling was my challenge on 'The Mill'...

'Silk'
- BBC.
Prod. Matt Strevens
Dirs. Marc Jobst/Cilla Ware

Cast inc. - Maxine Peake, Rupert-Penry-Jones, Neil Stuke, Frances Barber, Phil Davies

Keeping the legal details clear without interrupting the characters' emotional journeys was key here...

'Criminal Justice' - BBC.
Prod. Steve Lightfoot
Dir. Marc Jobst

Cast inc. - Maxine Peake, Sophie Okonedo,
Zoe Telford, Denis Lawson, Steven Mackintosh

I was editing another TV series at the time but persuaded my Director I could get up to speed by assembling on nights and weekends. I finished three days before Marc Jobst came to the cutting room. It was a joy to work with such compelling performances under Marc's focussed guidance.
